Netflix has a hit on its hands! Boots is a streaming and social media sensation barely two weeks after the dramedy premiered.
The show starring Miles Heizer as Cameron Cope has won viewers with its upbeat tone, funny characters, and handsome men.
The question about a second season is the only natural follow-up, especially with that ending.
Unfortunately, there is no news of a second season at the time of writing. This is not out of the ordinary because the show only recently premiered.
The most we can do is look at the clues for Season 2 before Netflix decides.
Can ‘Boots’ Go Past Season 1?
Yes, the series is not billed as a limited series, so there are plans to extend the story.
The biggest clue that the show is intended to run for multiple seasons is the ending in Season 1, which sees the recruits graduate boot camp and prepare for deployment.
A news report about an impending war comes on TV as they celebrate.
Since real events inspire Boots, the report references the Gulf War, in which the U.S. cooperated with other countries to stop Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait.
The war was officially fought for two years, but lasted until 1998.
As other recruits make merry in the bar, Cameron and Ray (Liam Oh) watch the report with a look that says, ‘We know this is where we’re headed.’
The show’s cast and crew have rallied behind it, and many have expressed interest in returning for more seasons.
Greg Cope White, the writer of The Pink Marine, the book the show is inspired by, has been advocating for more seasons of the show, which he also writes and executive produces.
Who Could Return for ‘Boots’ Season 2?
The show’s journey to the small screen has been long.
When Netflix picked up the series in 2023, it was titled The Corps and was originally intended to be ten episodes.
However, unforeseen developments, including a writers’ and actors’ strike, delayed it for two years.
In August 2025, it was reported that Netflix had extended the cast options for Heizer, Oh, Kieron Moore (Slovacek), Dominic Goodman (Nash), Angus O’Brien (Hicks), Blake Burt (John Bowman), and Rico Paris (Santos).
The streamer’s confidence in the show is evident. They would have let the cast options expire on August 30 if they were to cancel it.
The list above is a good indicator of who will return for a potential Season 2.
It is also based on the direction the story might take in the season as the recruits head to war and leave boot camp behind.
That means no more screaming and shouting, and no more training officers.
Boots‘ breakout, Max Parker might not be a prominent figure in Season 2, if he returns. It is reported that Vera Farmiga might also return.
How Has ‘Boots’ Performed?
The show has performed well on Netflix and social media, generating a lot of buzz.
Given the show’s incessant promotion with the cast (not complaining), it is doing well.
Boots racked up 4.7 million views on the platform in its first few days, debuting at number 6. Subsequent days saw it quickly climb the top ten chart, peaking at number one.
The show made it to the top ten in over 50 countries.
Its impact has been so far-reaching that the Trump administration released a statement calling Netflix out for releasing “woke garbage.”
The Pentagon’s Press Secretary Kingsley Wilson wrote:
“Under President Trump and Secretary Hegseth, the U.S. military is getting back to restoring the warrior ethos. Our standards across the board are elite, uniform, and sex neutral because the weight of a rucksack or a human being doesn’t care if you’re a man, a woman, gay, or straight.
“[We] will not compromise our standards to satisfy an ideological agenda, unlike Netflix whose leadership consistently produces and feeds woke garbage to their audience and children.”
Imagine throwing a tantrum over a fun little gay show!
