Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid) has been missing in Interview with the Vampire Season 2, which can partially be attributed to the story’s direction.
The creators, however, have several ways to bring him back, and one of the earliest, as seen in Interview with the Vampire Season 2 Episode 1, was a spontaneous intrusion into Louis’ mind.
Going into the next episode, Lestat will be much more prominent. The bad news is that that is still a few days away. The good news is that AMC has a sneak peek into the episode that teases Lestat’s glorious return as he pulls one of his signature theatrics.
The clip (below) picks up in the middle of a fancy music house, where Louis (Jacob Anderson) and Armand (Assad Zaman) seem to be on a date.
Another patron turns to them and, in the kindest manner possible, makes them aware that while their previous conversation about evil and goodness is interesting, this is not the place for it. He returns to his enjoyment.
The perk of being powerful vampires is that you can communicate telepathically.
The young lovers turn their conversation inward as they discuss good and evil. Louis is skeptical about the existence of good, and Armand tries to convince him that there is good and evil, just in different people and in various degrees.
As Armand continues his explanation, Louis zones out, and that’s when Lestat appears.
You little whore
You only want him ’cause you’re feeling blue
Come to me
He’ll never run his fingers through your hair like I do
Lestat – 🎹
What a way to make an entrance! One can feel the anger, desire, longing, and jealousy emanating from Lestat. And above all, that’s just hilarious.
Armand is quite aware by now that he is in the middle of something bizarre with Louis and Lestat. It is how he notices that Louis has zoned out. He correctly guesses that Lestat is back.
Every couple has something they bond over, and it seems that for Louis and Armand, it is discussing deep topics about humanity. Lestat had a particular disdain for it, but Armand doesn’t mind.
On noticing that Louis is not paying attention, Armand is visibly upset. Armand and Lestat have a history, and he, too, can’t seem to escape the man. The Theatre de Vampire is his domain, and the mind of someone he’s falling for is, too.
Trouble in paradise before they can even build it? Sheesh! It’s the Daniel Molloy effect.
Anyway, Interview with the Vampire Season 2 Episode 3 “No Pain” on AMC on Sunday, May 26.
