9-1-1 Season 9 is right around the corner, and Oliver Stark is sharing his wish for Buck in the upcoming season.
The actor took to Instagram on Bisexual Visibility Day to shout out the character who came out in 9-1-1 Season 7, following much speculation from fans.
“One of my biggest joys of playing Buck over the past eight nine seasons is getting to tell the story of him discovering his bisexuality,” he said in a video posted on his Stories.
“I hope, truly, that we have offered up some kind of positive representation. I’m really super proud of getting to be a part of this storyline,” Stark added.
Bisexual people face unique problems that people in the queer community do not. For example, some think that identifying as bisexual is a stopover to gay town, which is not necessarily true.
“I know there are a lot of people that think things like, you know, bisexual men are just too scared to come out as gay or whatever it is, and obviously that’s not the case,” he said, then added,
“I really hope we get to hammer home that point this season. I’m excited to delve deeper and deeper into it. It’s just such an honor to get to be a part of telling this story, so thank you guys.”
What to Expect for Buck in ‘9-1-1’ Season 9
Apart from his sexuality, Buck is looking for a place to live now that Eddie (Ryan Guzman) is back in LA. Actually, he’s not. “He’s got a cool little house, he’s really moving up in the world,” Stark told TVLine. The new place has “a lot more character than his last apartment, which was more minimalist and toned down.”
As everything unfolds, the Station will be dealing with the loss of Bobby (Peter Krause), which may affect Buck’s ability to focus on finding someone new after breaking up with Tommy.
“I don’t know if he’s in a good place for it. I don’t know that it’s necessary in his life right now, but if something happens to come along, that’s great,” the actor said.
“In honor of Bobby Nash’s sacrifice, the 118 comes together to dedicate the firehouse in his memory. Meanwhile, when a billionaire tech giant is involved in a life-or-death emergency, the team must race to his aid,” reads the official logline for 9-1-1 Season 9 Episode 1, “Eat The Rich.”
9-1-1 returns on ABC on Thursday, October 9.
